Another case of COVID-19 has been confirmed on Bainbridge Island, county health officials say, making it the first on the island since April.

The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kitsap County jumped Tuesday afternoon to 172 from 166. According to the Kitsap Public Health District, June 7 saw four new cases confirmed, the largest jump in two months. The last time four cases were confirmed in a single day was April 9. Since May 26, a total of 10 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed countywide.

A total of 8,748 residents have tested negative for the virus — of those tested, the positive test rate is about 2 percent.

Of the 172 cases, 55 have been reported in Bremerton, 41 in South Kitsap, 34 in North Kitsap, 3o in Central Kitsap and 12 on Bainbridge Island. Two coronavirus-related deaths have been confirmed by Kitsap Public Health District as well.
