The city of Bainbridge Island won’t have to pay as much as it thought for designs of a new connection at the Sound to Olympics Trail off of Highway 305.

In a recently approved contract with MacLeod Reckord, the city agreed to pay the consultants $164,368 to develop the designs.

Since the project includes additional grant funding through the Federal Transportation Alternative Program, further review was needed by the Washington State Department of Transportation before the consultants could begin work.

Due to elapsed overhead rates, WSDOT advised the amount of the contract should be adjusted downward from the $164,368 that was approved last month to $135,948.

The Bainbridge Island City Council unanimously approved the contract revision with MacLeod Reckord during Monday’s meeting.
