Despite school being canceled due to a bomb threat, the Bainbridge boys basketball team didn’t let it slow them down.

They went out and took care of business in front of a loud standing room only crowd at Paski Gymnasium by defeating the third ranked Rainier Beach Vikings 80-62.

All five starters scored in double figures.

Both teams traded baskets in the opening minutes before Cody Gibler, who was sick with the flu, converted on a three point play to give Bainbridge the lead.

Beach cut it to two in the first minute of the second quarter, but Steven Gray scored on a short jumper and banked in a three-pointer and the Spartans went on a 16-2 run to essentially close the game out.

Gray led all scorers with 21 points. He also had ten rebounds, seven assists and eight steals.

Gibler had 13 points, seven rebounds and six blocks.

Austin Wood had 14 points, six rebounds and two assists.

Nick Fling had 11 points, five rebounds and five assists while Caleb Davis had 10 points and four rebounds.

Rudy Sharar had nine points, five rebounds, two assists, one block and one charge off the bench.

DeAngelo Jones led the Vikings with 17 points and seven rebounds, but shot just 5 of 21 from the field.

Reggie Moore had 11 points, while Michael Ladd had 12 points and four rebounds.

Bainbridge held Beach to 24 percent from the field.

The Spartans (8-0, 11-1) travel to Lakeside on Friday, then to Bishop Blanchet on Saturday.
