Bainbridge Police reported the following incidents:

April 11

12:44 a.m. A man was arrested for driving under the influence after police observed him drifting across the center and fog lines.

Police saw a PT Cruiser driving northbound on SR-305 swerving across the center line near High School Road. The driver jerked back and forth across both lanes. The car made a wide left turn on to Madison Avenue. The driver nearly crashed into a small concrete barrier that divides the roadway but was able to avoid it.

The driver drove over the speed limit on Madison Avenue and began swerving over the fog line. The officer pulled the driver over near the Grange Hall.

After giving police his license, the man removed his registration from the owners manual in the glove box, and dropped it on his lap. He handed it to the officer and did not look for his insurance.

The officer asked how much he had to drink that night. The man said he had a couple beers with dinner. The man said he had just gotten off the ferry and was driving home.

The man’s breathalyzer sample registered at .135. He was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The man was taken to Kitsap County Jail where he provided two additional breath samples, which registered at .147 and .144. He was booked for DUI with $5,000 bail.

April 12

10:38 p.m. A driver was stopped for violating several traffic laws and arrested for DUI, driving with a revoked license, and cited for having an open alcohol container.

An officer observed a white Kia sedan, traveling eastbound on High School Road, turn right onto SR-305 without coming to a complete stop.

The Kia drove southbound on SR-305, and the officer turned his emergency lights on and accelerated to catch up. The officer sped up to 90 mph to catch up with the car.

As the officer drove behind the Kia, the car crossed the center line several times. The driver made a sudden left turn onto Vineyard Lane, which is prohibited.

The Kia drove toward the top of the hill and suddenly stopped. The driver got out of the car and staggered to the rear of the car, facing the officer, and put his hands in the air. The officer instructed the man to go back inside the car.

The man said he did not have a license to drive.

The officer asked the man why he did not stop, and the man said that he was trying to get out of the officer’s way. He said he thought he could make it home.

The officer asked the man how much he had to drink that evening. He said he would not answer any of the officer’s questions. The officer placed him under arrest.

During a search of the vehicle, the officer found a cap from a bottle of Mike’s Hard Lemonade in the front pocket of a sweatshirt.

Another officer found an open bottle of Mike’s Hard Lemonade on the passenger floor of the Kia that had a half-inch of liquid remaining.

On the way to the jail, the man requested to speak with a lawyer.

After consulting an attorney, the man provided two breath samples that registered at .141 and .167. The man was booked for DUI, driving with a revoked license and for a DUI warrant out of King County.

April 14

10:44 p.m. A resident reported a possible theft of her mail, which included a credit card application.

The day before, a neighbor found a lightweight plastic promotional card often attached to credit card offers with the resident’s name in her mailbox. The card wasn’t attached to a letter or with an envelope.

The resident told police she was concerned that someone was attempting to establish credit in her name. She mentioned that she also hadn’t seen her bank statement for the month, and thought it had been taken as well.

The resident had yet to check her credit or bank to see if anyone had tried to take out a credit card in her name.

Police advised her to get in touch with her bank and the credit reporting bureaus to have alerts placed on her accounts for the opening of new cards. Police asked her to report if someone did attempt to use her credit or establish an account in her name.

April 15

3:35 p.m. A citizen was stopped for speeding and cited for driving with a suspended license.

Police clocked the driver going 42 mph in a 25 mph zone. When police pulled the man over, his license came back as suspended due to parking tickets. The man was cited and told he was not allowed to drive.
