11:43 a.m. A father reported that his daughter and her friend had been approached on Madison Avenue by a man driving a van who offered them a ride. The driver was reportedly a young man with a goatee who said something about having candy. The girls were disturbed by the incident and walked back to the Pavilion shopping center to meet one of their brothers. A report was forwarded to detectives.

5:17 p.m. A possible burglary in progress was reported on Euclid Avenue. A resident returned home after shopping and said she heard a male’s voice coming from upstairs in her home. The resident ran to a neighbor’s house and called 911. Police searched the home and area but could find no one. Nothing appeared missing.
JULY 7
9:14 a.m. A utility trailer was reported stolen from a property on High School Road. Its owner said he had left it parked while he was on a trip in Alaska and returned to find it missing. The trailer was recorded stolen.
JULY 8
12:13 a.m. An officer investigated an SUV parked in the grass near Seabold Community Hall and made contact with a Bainbridge man and woman. The officer observed an open can of Miller Lite on the floorboard of the car next to a loaded glass marijuana pipe. The woman claimed ownership of the pipe and produced more marijuana from a bag in her purse. The woman was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. A breath test showed the man sober enough to drive, and the pair were allowed to leave.
JULY 9
3:44 a.m. A patrolling officer observed two minors enter a car on Shannon Drive and speed out of the parking lot. The officer had observed the girls arguing before entering the car. One told the other “I’m not getting an (expletive) DUI.” The girls got into the car, and it backed rapidly out of a parking space while the car’s passenger door hung open. The car proceeded down Brien Drive onto Madison Avenue. The officer lost the vehicle as it sped through a parking lot near Doc’s Marina Grill, but found it parked and empty in a handicapped space on Parfitt Way. The officer could not locate the girls but found a tennis shoe nearby and at one point heard someone sobbing in the distance. The vehicle was impounded. One of the girls was interviewed later that morning when she came to collect the vehicle. She admitted that both she and her friend had been drinking and acknowledged that she had been speeding. The case was forwarded to prosecutors.
2:01 p.m. Police received a report of a disgruntled customer verbally threatening and “chest bumping” an employee of a Madison Avenue business. An officer contacted the customer, who was driving a black BMW. The man told the officer that he became upset because the employee had done a “crappy” job of cleaning the rims on his car. He said they had gotten into a yelling argument but claimed the employee was the aggressor. The customer was warned not to return to the business.
JULY 10
10:27 a.m. Two doors of a Winslow Way business were damaged in an apparent burglary attempt. Glass on a front door had been shattered; it appeared that the prospective burglars had been trying to removed the door’s hinges but had shattered the glass in the process. Someone had also apparently tried to kick in the rear door. The investigation continues.
5:15 p.m. A mariner reported that a small boat had capsized in Agate Pass and was sinking. Two people were in the water nearby. The police boat responded and searched the area but could not find the boat or passengers. A party on shore alerted them that the skipper of the distressed vessel had flipped it back over, drained it, and continued on toward Brownsville. All units cleared.
JULY 11
10:11 a.m. An Eagle Harbor liveaboard told an officer that he received death threats from another liveaboard. He said the second liveaboard was upset that he had told the harbormaster that his boat was in danger of sinking. The man told the officer that the second liveaboard pounded on the window of his boat the previous evening and told them “If I catch you on shore, I’m going to kill your ass.” The case was referred to the harbormaster.
JULY 12
1:17 a.m. A High School Road resident returned home to find his air mattress flattened and a carving knife stuck in the wall over his bed. An air mattress used by a household dog was also flattened.
