Bainbridge Police reported the following incidents:
NOVEMBER 15
12:02 a.m. A Suquamish driver was pulled over on SR-305 near Koura Road after an officer observed her vehicle speeding and disobeying traffic signs. The woman smelled strongly of alcohol and said she had “three drinks” in Seattle where she had gone to the theater. After the woman wobbled through a field sobriety test the officer again asked her how much she had drunk. “Way to much!” she replied. The woman was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into Kitsap County Jail.
NOVEMBER 16
1:29 a.m. An officer observed a vehicle motoring north on SR-305 with only one working headlight and expired license tabs. The officer pulled the vehicle over and contacted a male driver and female passenger, both juveniles. The passenger told the officer the car was hers. The driver did not have identification. He appeared intoxicated and smelled faintly of alcohol. The driver admitted to having drunk “three beers” earlier and said the girl had also been drinking, though less than he had. During the interview the driver received a phone call from his father, who arrived at the scene shortly after. Following sobriety tests both juveniles were arrested. A search of the vehicle turned up a used marijuana pipe, which both juveniles denied ownership of. The driver was found to only have an instructional driver’s permit. He was cited for driving under the influence. Charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and minor in possession of alcohol were recommended for both juveniles.
NOVEMBER 17
9:55 a.m. A Nicholson Place resident reported that a stack of CDs and a pair of binoculars had been stolen from his unlocked vehicle sometime during the previous 10 days. The CDs included gospel music by Elvis Presley, The Oak Ridge Boys, Vintage Country, Old West Saloon Piano and Squeek Steele. Value of the CDs and binoculars was estimated at $160.
2:09 p.m. Various electronics were reported stolen from a Sunrise Drive home. Items included a keyboard, camcorder, iPod and digital camera. The resident suspected an acquaintance of the theft and confronted him on the phone. The acquaintance denied taking the items. Later the resident received a phone call from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office advising him that the acquaintance had been taken into custody for an earlier complaint, and the electronics had been recovered. The case was forwarded to prosecutors.
NOVEMBER 18
9:50 a.m. A Bill Point Bluff Road resident said his neighbor had found his credit card statement in the parking lot of the Bill Point community pool. The envelope had been opened but the contents were unmolested. Police advised the man to consider a locking mailbox.
1:32 p.m. A city public works employee called police to report that a man had gone on a disruptive rampage in the office of the sewer treatment plant that morning. The woman said she was in a back room of the office at 7:40 a.m. when she heard a man walk into the front of the office and yell “Where is everybody, it’s (expletive) 7:30.” She heard the man leave and reenter the office twice more while still yelling. The employee did not leave the back room until the man left for a third time. She found building plans and paperwork strewn about the floor. A construction worker working on the roof of the sewer plant said the same man had yelled up at him in an unintelligible fashion. The witness watched the man walk into the sewer office several times, then walk up the street to a residence. Police contacted the suspect at the residence. The man explained that he had brought his wife home from the hospital the night before and that noise from construction at the sewer plant had been preventing her from sleeping that morning. He said he had walked down to the office to talk to employees about the noise, and had yelled in an attempt to get someone’s attention. The man said he had knocked the papers down because he was upset about his wife’s discomfort. The officer told the man about the employee whom he had scared. The man said he was sorry and that hadn’t meant to scare anyone. No damage was done to the office. The case was recorded.
6:04 p.m. A vehicle towing a trailer was stopped on Roberts Road at Sunrise Drive for a defective taillight. The officer noted the smell of marijuana on the driver’s person as he exited the vehicle. The man turned over a small bag containing 1.9 grams of marijuana. He said he had purchased it two weeks before at a Point No Point casino for $20. The man said he doesn’t usually smoke marijuana but was having an especially bad day. The man was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to provide proof of insurance. He was released at the scene. The marijuana was entered into evidence.
8:59 p.m. A Volvo rearended a Ford at a stop sign on Finch Road. The Volvo driver admitted to having been distracted “looking at papers.” The Volvo driver was cited for inattention to driving.
NOVEMBER 19
7:18 p.m. A deer was struck by a Toyota Corolla on SR-305 north of Seabold Church. The driver, a Poulsbo woman, said the deer had run out in front of her and she did not have time to stop.
