The Bainbridge Island Police Department will hold a public forum to find out views from residents on what traits and characteristics are essential for police officers on Bainbridge.

The forum is 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6 in council chambers at Bainbridge Island City Hall.

“I am interested in hearing directly from the community about what people consider to be important qualities in our employees,” said Police Chief Matthew Hamner. “I always welcome open communication with citizens and this will give me another chance to listen and to be accessible to residents.”

Last year, the Civil Service Commission asked for input from residents when the commission worked to compile a list of key traits and characteristics sought in police officer candidates.

With input received at the upcoming forum, Hamner will work to provide an updated list to the commission for use in testing future candidates.
