The search is over.

The city of Bainbridge Island has selected Lisa Marshall as its new city attorney.

“This was an extremely difficult decision, as the finalists each had their own unique strengths and areas of experience,” said City Manager Doug Schulze.

After several months, the city narrowed down the pool of applicants to five finalists last month.

Each were interviewed by a panel of city council members and senior staff.

The city announced Tuesday that Marshall was the top pick.

Marshall has previously worked for the city of Newcastle and city of Burien. She has 10 years of experience in municipal practice at a private law firm.

She has also worked as a contract attorney for T-Mobile since 2012.

Marshall received her juris doctor from the University of Puget Sound and bachelor of arts from Pacific Lutheran University.

Bainbridge began its search for a new city attorney in March of this year when it hired Victoria Harris of Houser Martin Morris to begin recruiting candidates for the position.

Jim Haney is currently serving as Bainbridge’s interim city attorney. Bainbridge has been without a permanent city attorney since the resignation of Will Patton in November 2012.

Marshall will begin work next month.

“I am confident that Ms. Marshall will be an excellent addition to the city’s team,” Schulze said.
