The Bainbridge Island School Board has extended the employment contract for District Superintendent Peter Bang-Knudsen.

The board voted to add two more years to Bang-Knudsen’s contract at the board’s meeting late last week.

Bang-Knudsen became superintendent in April 2016, and his employment agreement now runs until July 1, 2012.

The new contract also comes with an increase in pay; Board President Sheila Jakubik said Bang-Knudsen will receive a 3.1 percent salary increase.

His original contract included a base salary of $168,000.
