A Bainbridge island teenager was sentenced to 30 days in jail for the car crash last summer that left another island teen in a coma with serious injuries.

Nicole Scoble had earlier pled guilty to vehicular assault and was sentenced to 30 days in jail, as well as 12 months of community custody, in Kitsap County Superior Court on June 1.

She also faces a restitution hearing that has been set for Aug. 24.

Police said Scoble was intoxicated when she got behind the wheel of her Volkswagen Jetta and left an island party the night of Aug. 8, 2011 with two male friends. Scoble, then 18,  missed a turn on West Port Madison Road and crashed her car into a tree.

The accident left 18-year-old Jackson Stewart, a passenger in Scoble’s car, in a month-long coma along with other severe injuries.

Scoble pled guilty to a charge of vehicular assault in May.
