Bainbridge to participate in earthquake drill

The city of Bainbridge Island will join the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management in participating in a "Drop, Cover and Hold" earthquake drill later this week.

The city of Bainbridge Island will join the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management in participating in a “Drop, Cover and Hold” earthquake drill later this week.

City officials said the drill is one step in helping the community be prepared in the case of an earthquake. The drill is 9:15 a.m. Thursday, April 9 and city hall will be evacuated for approximately 20 minutes during the exercise.

City officials are also encouraging Bainbridge Island residents to practice emergency preparedness in their own workplaces and homes. More information on Drop, Cover and Hold can be found on the KCDEM website at http://www.kitsapdem.org/.
