The city of Bainbridge Island has been honored for the third year in a row for the exceptional performance of wastewater treatment at the Bainbridge Island Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The honors come from the Department of Ecology Northwest Regional Office, and city officials said the Wastewater Treatment Plant Award recognizes that city staff has maintained compliance with effluent limits, monitoring and reporting requirements and overall operational demands of the city’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit during 2016.
“The city’s Wastewater Treatment Plant team works 365 days a year to protect water quality on Bainbridge Island and in the Puget Sound,” said City Manager Doug Schulze.
“We are proud of the work being done at the treatment plant, and we are committed to continued excellence,” he said.
