Thursday, July 26

3:11 p.m. A man observed someone in a blue truck possibly take mail from his mailbox on Baker Hill Road. The man thought he saw a male driver with his hand inside the mailbox. When he approached the driver in his truck, he mumbled something and drove off.

The man believed the driver was his neighbor. Police went to the neighbor’s home and found the blue truck. The neighbor said that he went to get his mail from his mailbox which is right next to his neighbor’s. He noticed his neighbor’s box open and closed it before getting his own mail.

Police told the man his neighbor’s story and he was satisfied.

Friday, July 27

9:06 p.m. A man called police to his home where he was arguing with his wife. He wanted some advice on how to handle the situation. The couple were arguing after a night in Seattle for the wife’s birthday. Police felt that the man had clearly been drinking.

Police interviewed the couple’s children who told them that no physical violence had occurred during the argument.

Saturday, July 28

9:11 a.m. A bicycle was stolen from a home on Kitsap Street. It was valued at approximately $1,700.

Sunday, July 29

5:55 p.m. Island police were called to assist the Washington State Patrol for a domestic verbal dispute on the corner of Highway 305 and Winslow Way. A couple was observed riding in their car and arguing loudly. A woman exited the vehicle and Washington State Patrol troopers stopped her, though she was not very cooperative. Officers believed that she might be intoxicated.

The man involved in the argument was also suspected of being intoxicated.

Island police discovered that the argument was over an affair that the wife recently had while her husband, who is in the military, was stationed in Afghanistan. The husband had gotten permission to come home early to deal with his marital situation.

The couple were wine tasting on the island and an argument broke out on their way back to the ferry terminal. The husband had no cell phone so he reached into his wife’s purse to call his mother. At this point the wife hit her husband in the eye, but he said it may have been an accident.

The wife was arrested for assault. The husband left to go home on the ferry.

Monday, July 30

12:13 a.m. Police responded to a noise complaint on Cosgrove Street. They arrived at a residence to hear loud music and talking. A mix of under-age and of-age men and woman were at the party. The parents were not home. Police contacted the parents of some of the young people to provide them rides home.

Others who were of age were allowed to stay the night.
