BARN is looking to expand and is launching a capital campaign to raise $900,000 to help purchase the neighboring Tree Farm.
The 1.89-acre Tree Farm along New Brooklyn Road to the south of BARN’s existing facility recently became available for $1.55 million. So far, BARN has raised $650,000.
Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network is inviting the public to support the nonprofit by purchasing a tree at the farm at Three Tree Lane NE between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Nov. 20, 25 and 26; along with Dec. 3 and 10.
People can also donate a tree to Helpline House or Fishline. Bay Hay and Feed has offered the use of its trucks and drivers for delivery.
BARN’s expansion is intended to “better serve the needs of the community and region by creating more opportunities for makers of all ages to learn and use hands-on skills,” BARN executive director Grae Drake said.
The public is invited to harvest one of the noble firs as a thank you for donations of $200 or more. Donations of any amount will be accepted.

BARN staff and volunteers will reach out to stakeholders and the wider community in the coming year to assess needs as the organization envisions future uses of the property.
A “makerspace and learning place,” BARN has equipped studios for everything from Electronic & Technical Arts to Woodworking. People can take a class, work on a project or share their knowledge with others. Everyone is welcome – a BARN membership is not required. Classes are open to ages 14 and older.
