A grand opening for the Ted Spearman Justice Center will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 15 at 8804 Madison Ave. N. on Bainbridge Island.
Named after Theodore Spearman, a former Kitsap County Superior Court Judge and long-time BI resident, the center will house the city’s police department, municipal court and emergency management services center.
Remarks will be given by city manager Blair King, city staff and members of the Spearman family. Tours of the building will take place from 1-3 p.m. and will provide education on the different areas of the building by volunteer docents, who will be members of the police staff and Bainbridge Prepares Community Emergency Response Team leaders.
King said the facility is much needed. “For many years the police station, municipal court and our Emergency Operations Center were obsolete and inadequate… We now have state-of-the-art facilities that are safe and functional to better serve the needs of our community.”
Due to limited parking, attendees are encouraged to carpool. The building’s elevator is still pending certification for use.
Light refreshments will be served.
