Kim Brackett, a first-term City Council member for the South Ward (Dist. 6), has decided against running for re-election this year.

Brackett cited personal issues in deciding not to run again.

“Family obligations have influenced my decision to not seek a second City Council term,” she said in a statement.

“It has been an honor to serve my fellow Bainbridge Islanders and I thank those who extended their expertise, opinions and kindness in our conversations over the past four years,” she added. “Lastly, I encourage others who believe in fair, representative government to file for office this June.”

She received 54 percent of the vote in defeating Curt Winston in the November 2007 election.

Three-term councilor Bill Knobloch has decided not to seek re-election, while North Ward Councilor Hilary Franz hasn’t made an announcement yet on her political future. Councilor Barry Peters will seek another term, though he’s still undetermined whether he will run at-large or for the Central Ward seat.
