Bainbridge police discovered evidence of a possible break-in at Bainbridge High School this past weekend.
During a 2 a.m. patrol of the area Jan. 25, police found a gymnasium door wide open and the handle missing.
According to police documents, the door was propped open, and the only way to close it was to manually twist a knob on the top of the door.
It did not appear to have been accidentally left open, police reported.
Upon further investigation, a door to a storage and equipment room also appeared to have been damaged in an attempt gain entry.
The storage door contained pry marks but police could not conclude whether the damage was new or old. Inside the storage room, a cash register along with other equipment could be seen in plain view through windows on the door.
Police checked the rest of the gym and found nothing unusual.
At around 3:30 a.m., police returned to check the school’s band hall. One of the double doors was found unlocked.
