Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra has announced that the 2015 Young Artist Concerto Competition will be held at noon on Sunday, Jan. 11 at Bainbridge Performing Arts.
The application deadline is Monday, Dec. 15.
The competition is open to all instruments — instrumental and vocal — for young musicians ages 12 to 21. The winner will have the opportunity to perform with Wesley Schulz and the BSO on April 18 and 19.
All instruments including strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, piano, harp and voice, are welcome to audition, applicants need not be residents of Bainbridge.
Acceptable works for competition include single movements of concertos or single movement solo works. Exceptions can be made, but must be approved by Schulz in advance. Voice applicants are welcome to audition with arias or solo works that fit the time requirements.
All works should be between 5 and 20 minutes in length. All music must be memorized and accompaniment is required.
Interested parties are encouraged to contact Schulz at wschulz@bainbridgeperformingarts.org with questions and for repertory approval.
