A victim in a drive-by shooting just missed getting hit by a bullet by 3 inches.
A 29-year-old Tacoma man was in Kitsap County Superior Court April 18 charged in the case. He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Bail was set at $100,000.
Court records show Kitsap County sheriff’s officers responded to the 1200 block of Evans Avenue W. in Bremerton April 17 at 10:25 a.m. The resident had video of the vehicle involved in the shooting. Multiple people with different types of guns were in the vehicle.
A deputy saw numerous gunshells in the driveway. Some of the shots hit vehicles. Five people lived in the home, and a couple of them said they took cover due to glass and debris breaking around them.
A man and woman in a front bedroom were awakened by the gunshots. Glass was all over the bed from a shot-up mirror. A bullet hole in the wall was only about 3 inches from the woman’s head.
A man in the suspect vehicle in the video was pulled over hours later and arrested.
Rape, voyeurism
A 32-year-old Port Orchard man was in Superior Court April 17 charged with second-degree rape and first-degree voyeurism.
He faces life in prison plus 15 years and $60,000 in fines. Bail was $101,000.
Court records say Port Orchard police went to a location at 8:11 a.m. April 16. The victim said she was raped after what started as consensual sex. Earlier, he had asked if she had a fantasy about being raped, and she replied, “No, that’s ——ing disgusting.”
Later, he physically forced her to have sex, even though she yelled at him to stop, said she was in pain and started to cry. He even slapped her as she was having a hard time breathing. He threatened to punch her when she fought back. She said he was drunk and upset his ex-wife was leaving the state with his children.
The suspect has a camera in his bedroom to record his seizures as he has epilepsy. The victim feared he had recorded them having sex without her consent. He had. The suspect’s ex said he had done that type of thing when they were married.
Counterfeit FOB
A man who had a counterfeit FOB and said he purchased a vehicle from “Native Jimmy” was in Superior Court April 18 charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and of meth with intent to deliver.
The 45-year-old man from Port Orchard faces 20 years in prison and up to $45,000 in fines.
Court papers show Bremerton police responded that day at 1 a.m. to the 2500 block of Burwell Street. An officer saw a vehicle at a car wash that was stolen the previous evening. The suspect said he bought the car for $5,000 from “Native Jimmy.” The suspect had a FOB, but the real owner said someone must have programmed a counterfeit one.
In the car was 121 grams of meth, 166 fentanyl pills, 15.5 grams of fentanyl powder, several dozen baggies and a digital scale. The suspect also had $1,085 in cash and a meth pipe. He said the meth was worth about $300 and the pills about $1 each. The man was a suspect in seven auto thefts since 2021.
Drug bust
A 42-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court April 17 after being found with 28 grams of meth, or 28 times what a typical drug user would have, police say.
He was charged with possession of meth with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of a firearm. He faces 15 years in prison and up to $35,000 in fines. Bail was $82,500.
Court records show Bremerton police on routine foot patrol saw some people smoking meth in the 800 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Way at 5:54 p.m. April 16. In the vehicle, police found 28 grams of meth. Police also found a dozen empty “dime” bags that are used to sell smaller amounts of drugs. There was a loaded revolver under the seat. The suspect was a convicted felon who was not supposed to have a weapon.
