The next phase of Pleasant Beach Village faces a considerable change of plans — including more homes, a community pool and a new gym.
Pleasant Beach Village stores have slowly been emerging at the new shopping and living center in Lynwood. But what islanders can now see on Lynwood Center Road is merely the first phase of the project. Phase II has previously been expected to provide additional housing, but proponents of the development project are looking to tweak that plan a little bit.
Wenzlau Architects, a local firm, has set out proposed amendments to the future plans for the site.
Whereas six cottages were previously planned for the hill behind the shopping area, now 22 apartments are proposed.
Eight row houses that were also planned are now also primed for a change. Instead, the firm is proposing an outdoor community pool and gym.
The amendments have only been proposed so far, and have yet to receive city approval.
The community is invited to discuss the changes at meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 22 at the Manor House, located above Pleasant Beach Village at 4611 NE Woodson Road.
The city’s planning staff will also be on hand to provide information about city policies and regulations.
