Change of value notices have been sent to 103,945 residential and commercial property taxpayers throughout Kitsap County, according to the Kitsap County Assessor’s Office.
County officials note the assessor is required by state law to appraise property at 100 percent of market value, and the new notices are based on property sales that have occurred since Jan. 1, 2017 and will be used when calculating property tax obligations payable in 2019.
Taxpayers can check their values and characteristics in the “Parcel Details” feature on the assessor’s website at www.kitsapgov.com/assessor. Sales trends for the county are also available on the website, as well as information regarding the various property tax exemption programs.
Anyone with questions or concerns about their 2018 value can contact the Kitsap County Assessor’s Office at 360-337-7160 or email assessor@co.kitsap.wa.us.
Property owners who want to appeal their value to the Board of Equalization must have their appeal postmarked by Friday, Aug. 10.
