The city of Bainbridge Island has postponed a public hearing on the recent ordinance for marijuana businesses.

The city rescheduled the hearing to Monday, Nov. 25, due to a technical glitch in publishing a notice in the Friday, Nov. 1 edition of the Bainbridge Island Review combined with the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

The Bainbridge Island City Council is in the process of establishing a moratorium on marijuana growing and adopting interim regulations for marijuana processing, retailing and collective gardens.

Washington voters approved Initiative 502, the legalization of the recreational use of marijuana, in last November’s election.

A public hearing will give citizens the opportunity to submit a written or oral comment on the local ordinance.

However, substantial prior notification of the public hearing is required.

Notice of the hearing will be published in the Review for the Nov. 8 and Nov. 15 editions, as well as posted on the city’s website.
