Appointments to the city’s Ethics Board and the Civil Service Commission (CSC) have been proposed by City Council ad hoc committees and await confirmation at Wednesday’s council meeting.
Island residents William Foster, Robert Killian, Steve Lakich, Lynda McMaken and Bruce Weiland are being considered for appointment to the CSC. The Ethics Board hopes to welcome two new members – Joe Honick and Erin Thomasson – and have Susan Buckles reappointed to the board during Wednesday’s meeting.
Killian currently serves on the Ethics Board, but has agreed to step down if he is appointed to the CSC.
A total of 11 people applied to volunteer on the five-member CSC, which was narrowed to the five proposed appointees after being interviewed by the ad hoc committee of Hilary Franz, Kirsten Hytopoulos and Barry Peters.
Council Members Kim Brackett, Bill Knobloch and Debbi Lester were on the panel charged with interviewing applicants and selecting appointees for the Ethics Board.
“What we came up with is some very well-qualified people,” Knobloch said. “They are playing a very important role in how their government operates.”
Seven residents applied for the Ethics Board, though one applicant was unable to meet for the interview process.
