Local members of the Democratic Party will gather for their 2012 Washington state precinct caucuses on Sunday, April 15 at Bainbridge High School and Woodward Middle School.
Voters will pick their nominee for president, as well as delegates and alternates to the legislative district caucuses and county convention.
Party officials said the precinct caucuses across the state are the first step for those who want to become a delegate for the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, S.C. in September.
A total of 130 delegates and alternates representing the Washington State Democrats will eventually be selected to attend the national convention.
The caucus at BHS starts at 1 p.m. and will be held for the precincts of Blue Heron, Azalea, Winslow, Wing Point, Blakely, Crystal Springs, Finch, Eagle Harbor, Fort Ward and Liberty.
Democrats will also caucus at Woodward Middle School.
Voters from the precincts of Ferncliff, Island Center, Meadowmeer, New Brooklyn, Skiff Point, Rolling Bay, Lovgren, Tolo, Seabold, Manzanita, Port Madison and Torvanger will meet at the middle school.
Prior to the caucus, training for precinct committee officers will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7 at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds Event Center (formerly the Eagle’s Nest).
