The Washington State Patrol said an impaired driver who failed to stop at a stop sign caused a two-car crash on Highway 307 north of Poulsbo that shut down the highway for more than three-and-a-half hours overnight Friday.

According to the State Patrol, the accident occurred when a 37-year-old Poulsbo man drove through a stop sign on Foss Road Northeast and into the path of another driver while turning onto the highway.

The driver of the first car, a 1995 Honda Prelude, was identified as Zachariah E. Silkett of Poulsbo. His vehicle was hit by 48-year-old Poulsbo man in a 2008 Dodge Caravan who was heading south on Highway 307.

Silkett was injured in the crash and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The driver of the Dodge, and his two passengers, were not hurt.

A passenger in the Honda was also not injured.

The accident was reported just after 10:30 p.m. Friday, and the highway was closed to traffic in both directions for three hours and 35 minutes.

The State Patrol said Silkett faces charges of driving under the influence.

The Honda was totaled and impounded by Kitsap Towing.
