Elaine Stewart, a longtime resident of Bainbridge Island, passed away Aug. 3, 2014. She was 97.

She was born Nov. 18, 1916. Elaine taught grade school and high school on Bainbridge Island for many years. She was particularly active in the German student exchange program at Bainbridge High School.

She is survived by her daughter Laurie; son Randy; granddaughter Emma; and grandson Sam, who will miss her.
