Elizabeth Anne Wilks Hulbert passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016 at The Messenger House on Bainbridge Island.
She was born on Sept. 2, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was 90 years of age.
Elizabeth worked for The Winchester Repeating Arms in New Haven, Connecticut and was a legal secretary for a legal firm in Bethesda, Maryland.
She was affiliated with The Seattle Women’s University Club and the Seattle Children’s Hospital Guild Association. Betty loved music and was quite a gifted violinist in her early years. Though she stop playing an instrument after having children, she never lost her love and was an accomplished “air conductor” for any orchestra or big band music that played within her hearing.
It was one of her many charms. Betty was also a competitive bridge player and an avid golfer with a few “hole in ones” to her credit.
Though small in stature she cast a large shadow and will be missed by everyone who knew her. Betty was a loyal friend, devoted mother and grandmother, but nothing could outshine her love for her husband, Don. The love they shared for nearly 70 years was epic and beautiful. We are all hoping to be just like them. Rest in peace dear Betty, you lived well, loved better, and will be Eternally missed.
Betty is survived by her husband, Donald C. Hulbert of Bainbridge Island; daughter Barbara Hulbert Little of Seattle; son Richard Wilks Hulbert and his wife Deborah Hulbert of Ellensburg; grandchildren, Jessica Wilks Redstone of Seattle, Erin Elizabeth Hulbert of Seattle, Alicia Reigh House of Kittitas and Brian Russell Hulbert of Ellensburg. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Harold E. and Mabel W. Wilks.
Family and friends are respectively invited to attend the memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 at Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church. The reception will follow the service.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Seattle Children’s Hospital Guild Association of Seattle, Washington. Sign the online guestbook for the family at www.cookfamilyfuneralhome.com.
