A fund sent up to assist the family of Bainbridge Police Officer Kurt Enget has raised more than $14,000 in the two hours since it was set up Friday morning.
Enget died Friday morning following treatment for symptoms similar to COVID-19 at Harrison Medical Center, the city of Bainbridge Island announced.
Enget, 49, was the city’s K-9 handler and a five-year veteran of the Bainbridge Island Police Department.
He is survived by his wife, Yevette; three children; and two grandchildren.
More than 150 people have made donations so far.
A goal of $50,000 has been set, and $14,885 had been raised by 10 a.m. Friday.
