Garnet Logan, 72, of Bainbridge Island, passed away peacefully in her home on Dec. 23, 2015.

Garnet was born Jan. 13, 1943 in White Plains, New York, the daughter of Frederick and Arneila Roffe.

After graduating from college, she moved to California where she taught elementary school in Los Angeles. Garnet went on to earn her master’s and doctoral degrees in education and served as a principal in both Los Angeles and Alhambra school districts.

Garnet lived an active lifestyle and enjoyed skiing, dancing and was an avid reader.

Upon her retirement in 1997, Garnet and her husband, Michael, moved to Bainbridge Island where she continued to be active as a community volunteer.

She devoted many hours of her time working with PAWS and as a Eucharistic minister for St. Cecelia’s Catholic parish. Garnet served on the Board of Directors for Helpline House and was President of the Board of Directors for Hospice of Kitsap County. Garnet was also a CASA volunteer (court appointed special advocate) for Kitsap County and received recognition for excellence while performing her duties as an advocate for abused children.

Garnet is survived by her husband, Michael; son Christopher; daughter Trang; grandchildren Kailey, Derek, Victoria, Derek and Dylan; and extended family.

Services were held Saturday, Jan. 9 at St. Cecelia’s Church.
