A 64-year-old Bremerton man was in Kitsap County Superior Court Sept. 16 facing two charges.
He’s charged with indecent liberties and sexual misconduct with a minor. He faces life in prison and $50,000 in fines.
Court records say Kitsap deputies responded to to a Bremerton address at 6:51 p.m. Sept. 13. The 16-year-old victim told her stepmother she was sexually assaulted by her grandfather. He hugged her longer than usual and started rubbing his hips against her. He started kissing her and then pulled down her shirt. After she got away he acted like nothing happened. He asked if she wanted to go the pharmacy and “pick up a treat.”
There is video in the house, but the one that day was missing. When the girl’s dad approached him about it the suspect said if you don’t want me to hug her anymore I won’t. He denied anything happened to the victim’s mom, but the suspect did say, “I just need to go to church and confess my sins.”
Face, neck tattoos
A man with face and neck tattoos was identified in a lineup and was in Kitsap County Superior Court Sept. 23 arrested on a warrant.
The 46-year-old Federal Way man is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and harassment threat to kill. He faces 15 years in prison and $30,000 in fines. Bail was $750,000.
Court records say Kitsap deputies responded Sept. 10 at 10:26 p.m. to the 2100 block of NE Sylvan Way in Bremerton. A deputy responded to a parking complaint when he saw a vehicle with its lights off swerving into oncoming traffic at a high rate of speed.
Deputies found out a victim had been assaulted by a man driving a fleeing vehicle. The suspect had parked in front of her driveway, got out and started yelling at her with a handgun as she retreated. Video shows him lunging at her, grabbing her throat, and pushing her to the ground. She fell and hit the back of her head on concrete. Her husband came out and yelled for the suspect to leave.
Deputies found out the suspect had been involved in similar incidents the past few months. He is a registered sex offender with convictions of robbery and burglary. A warrant was put out for his arrest. On Sept. 11 the suspect was put in a lineup. The victim recalled his face and neck tattoos.
Blue bandana leads to gun threat
Bail was set at $750,000 in Superior Court Sept. 23 for a 28-year-old Bremerton man facing three charges after an alleged threat over a blue bandana led to a gun incident.
Assault with a deadly weapon carried a maximum of 10 years and $20,000 in fines. He faces three counts of that.
Court papers say Bremerton police responded to the 2900 block of Perry Avenue Sept. 22 at 6:08 p.m. as a suspect pointed a gun at three people in a car. Those in the car say they drove by two people when one pulled a gun out of his waistband. Officers found the men, and the one with the gun went behind two trash cans then threw the gun to the ground.
The suspects claim the trio in the vehicle threatened to run one of them over because he was wearing blue. One suspect said he hid the gun because he had an ankle monitor on. They also said someone in the vehicle had pointed a gun at them, but no gun was found in the vehicle. A blue bandana was located on one of the suspects. Blue is associated with a gang in Bremerton.
Officers did a field show-up, basically repeating what happened as the victims identifed the suspects.
Doggy door entry
A 32-year-old Quilcene man was in Superior Court Sept. 23 charged with residential burglary after using a doggy door to get inside.
Bail was $150,000. He faces 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Court records say Kitsap deputies responded Sept. 20 at 3:36 p.m. to the 26000 block of Calvary Lane NE in Kingston.
The man who called 911 had detained a burglary suspect in a garage. A woman who lives there said when she came home the family dog was out, which was unusual. She forcibly had to open the front door when her key didn’t work. Someone had placed a large plastic tote bin to block the door. Her laptop in the living room was missing.
The reporting party arrived later and saw the back door open; it had been locked. He saw the garage door about 100 feet away also was open. There he saw the suspect, whom he grabbed by the wrist. The burglar did not try to get away. Cameras in the house showed the suspect entering, but they were then unplugged. It looked like the suspect entered through a large dog door.
Hit in head 40 times
A man who punched his wife 40 times, temporarily disfiguring her forehead, spit on her and then tried to escape by hiding in a trunk was in Superior Court Sept. 19 facing three charges.
The 32-year-old Port Orchard man was charged with first-degree burglary with a deadly weapon domestic violence. He faces life in prison and a $50,000 fine for that. For second-degree assault he faces 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. And for felony assault violating a court order he faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Court records show Kitsap deputies responded to Harper Hill Road SE in Port Orchard Sept. 18 at 12:12 a.m. Despite a protection order, a husband went into the home where his wife lives. He punched her in the head about 40 times and spit on her about six times in the face and eyes. The attack caused temporary disfigurement to her forehead.
She ran out the front door and called 911, but he grabbed the phone and threw it. He picked it up, hung up on 911 and fled in his vehicle to a cousin’s place. He hid in the truck of a vehicle there, but deputies arrived before that vehicle could take off.
Gun pulled
A 72-year-old Grapeview man was in Superior Court Sept. 16 charged with second-degree assault with a deadly weapon domestic violence.
Bail was $250,000. He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court records show Bremerton police responded to the 3900 block of Wheaton Way Sept. 13 at 9:59 p.m. An intoxicated couple with a gun was pointing it at people in a parking lot. A witness said the couple was physically fighting near a stairwell, punching, choking and hitting each other. The fight broke up, but the man had a gun. The wife said she tried to talk him down for seven minutes, but she feared he would shoot.
Fight over wallet
A 29-year-old transient was in Superior Court Sept. 16 charged with second-degree burglary.
Bail was $150,000. He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court records say Port Orchard police responded Sept. 13 at 11:38 p.m. to the 1900 block of SE Sedgwick Road. A report says a man was skipping around a parking lot with a shopping cart. Another man chased him before getting back into a car and leaving. The incident started when two men were fighting at gas pumps. One got on a bike and the other in a car and left. A man said the suspect tried to rob him. He said he gave the man some money, but then the suspect took his wallet and said, “You’re not getting nothing back.” They fought over the wallet, then took off. Police saw a man sticking his head out from behind a building and apprehended him. His pants were being held up by a string, which was one of the observations made of the suspect.
Luring a minor
A 62-year-old Belfair man was in Superior Court Sept. 17 charged with luring a minor. Bail was $50,000. He faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
