As Halloween approaches, there are many events taking place across Kitsap County where kids in costumes can get candy to celebrate the holiday.
On Oct. 27, newlife church in Poulsbo will be holding its annual Kids Halloween Carnival from 8:40 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is for kids of all ages. Come dressed in your favorite costume and be ready for games, arts and crafts, and, of course, candy.
There are a plethora of community trick-or-treating events occurring Halloween night. Downtown Poulsbo will turn into “Ghoulsbo” from 4-6 p.m. where kids can get candy from local business owners. There will be live music. Front Street will be closed to traffic for the safety of children.
North Kitsap Baptist Church will be holding a trunk-or-treat celebration. Indoor carnival games will be held where kids can earn candy from Halloween-themed car trunks. There will be a photo booth for kids in costumes. Free food includes a hot dog, bag of chips and bottle of water.
The Kiwanis Halloween Carnival will take place in Kingston from 5-7 p.m. at the Village Green Community Center. The event includes games, stories and candy.
In Hansville is the Children’s Halloween Carnival from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Community Center. There will be games and activities for kids of all ages, a friendly haunted house, and trick-or-treating. Cookies and juice will be served.
Several farms on Bainbridge Island have pumpkin patches and mazes ready for spooky season. The historic Suyematsu and Bentryn Family Farms feature a hay maze, tractor rides, pumpkins and winter squash, autumn bouquets and ornamental corn at 9229 Day Road E, open Monday through Friday 1-6 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Winney Farm at 5145 McDonald Ave. NE offers pumpkins and a mini-corn maze, as well as “the best farm stand on Bainbridge.”
Bloedel Reserve’s Squash Hunt is an all-month event taking place 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Intrepid hunters of any age may acquire a bracelet from the visitor center and track down squash displays throughout the gardens to discover a treat. There’s also a prize for the best guess of a giant pumpkin’s weight and an in-costume Halloween parade Oct. 26, with hot cider provided.
On the big day Oct 31, Winslow Way will close to traffic at 3:30 p.m. for the annual Hometown Halloween celebration, in which visitors can show off their costumes, play carnival games, dance, trick-or-treat with merchants and drink hot cider.
Port Orchard will host its annual Bay Street “Boo Bash” Oct.26 from 3-5 p.m. There will be candy, photo stations, and activities for all ages.
On Halloween, Bremerton will have “Trick or Treat Street” downtown from 5-7:30 p.m. where children can get candy from businesses. There will also be a puppy parade and “Touch a Truck” with the fire department. Pacific and 4th will be closed to traffic to ensure the safety of children.
Kitsap Mall in Silverdale will host “Mall-O-Ween” on Halloween from 5-7 p.m. Children can trick-or-treat throughout the mall.
