Ryan Holben has graduated with a doctorate in mathematics at the University of California Irvine.

His thesis was in the fields of set theory and logic. He was awarded his diploma in August.

Holben, of Irvine, Calif., earned bachelor’s degrees in physics and mathematics at Colby College. He graduated from Bainbridge High School in 2003.
