Housing Resources Bainbridge has agreed to serve as the fiscal sponsor for the Bainbridge Island Village Project, which is based on a national movement that helps residents “age in place” through the coordination of pre-existing services and vetted referrals.
The group’s steering committee, which was launched last year, is in the process of evaluating whether the village concept can amass enough public support on Bainbridge to be viable.
“We are grateful to Housing Resources Bainbridge for partnering with us,” said Sandy White, co-chair of the Village Steering Committee.
“This gives us the time we need to determine if the village program is both a good fit for Bainbridge Island and sustainable long-term,” White said. “Through HRB’s sponsorship, the BI Village Project will be able to accept tax deductible donations and apply for start up funds to support needs assessment and other community outreach activities during this crucial planning year.”
Housing Resources Bainbridge exists to preserve the diversity and vitality of Bainbridge Island by providing and maintaining affordable housing opportunities in the community.
