“Enlighten us, but make it quick.” That’s the motto of Ignite, a high-energy event of five-minute talks which started in Seattle in 2006, and has touched cities across the nation and the world.

This evening of fun and inspiration comes again to Bainbridge Island at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 6. The third annual Ignite Bainbridge celebration is hosted by coworking and conference center OfficeXpats and is being held at the Bainbridge Cinemas, located at 403 Madison Ave. North.

The public is invited to come and be entertained by 15 well-practiced speakers, each passionate about getting their brief message across.

The performances are videotaped and the talks from previous years can be found on the ignitebainbridge.com website.

“After months of voluntary practice sessions, the talks have been sharpened by insightful peer speakers’ feedback. With each review, the content and delivery just keeps getting better and more powerful,” said  Linna Callaham, the event organizer, self-proclaimed “chief firecracker” and this year’s emcee.

Callaham said that this year Ignite Bainbridge plans to donate any excess proceeds to newly emerging Bainbridge Community Broadcasting, an Internet radio station that also hopes to win an FM license later this year, in a synergy that supports professional speaking, business collaborations, and community innovation.

The talks will begin at 7 and end around 9 p.m. with a brief intermission in the middle. There will also be a party after the show to meet the speakers.
