The Bainbridge Island School District will host an informational meeting for residents who are interested in running for a seat on the Bainbridge Island School Board.
The terms for three current school board members will expire this year: Lynn Smith (District 1), Mev Hoberg (District 3) and Christina Hulet (District 4).
The upcoming meeting will cover the importance of school board members and the role they play in the district. The meeting is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. Thursday, April 25 in the board’s meeting room and will be followed by a regular school board meeting at 5:45 p.m. Organizers of the meeting note that interested candidates are encouraged to stay for the meeting and see the current board in action.
The district board room is located at 9530 NE High School Road; access to the boardroom is via the lower parking lot (also known as the “pit”) between Bainbridge High and Commodore Options.
People who want to run for public office in 2019 will file as candidates with the Kitsap County Elections Division between May 13 and May 17.
