Christine Angela Coad Pence of Bainbridge Island graduated from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia on May 22, 2014.
She received a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy and a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry with magna cum laude honors and a minor in poverty and human capability studies.
The new graduate is a 2010 Bainbridge High School graduate and is the daughter of Therese Coad and Christopher Pence, both of Bainbridge Island.
She plans to work for the National Institutes of Health next year in Bethesda, Maryland where she will be working in T-cell research. She hopes to apply and eventually attend medical school.
