Kids Discovery Museum will host its annual birthday bash to celebrate the importance of play and the museum’s 11th anniversary from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 4.
All are welcome to join the festivities and enjoy free admission all day. The celebration will feature complimentary family attractions, demonstrations and entertainment on the Island Gateway plaza.
The party will begin with a free family fun walk through Winslow for Play Ambassadors of all ages.
Island Fitness instructor Tamera Roza, together with her daughter and assistant Teia, will lead a warm-up on the plaza at 10 a.m. Participants will then head out to celebrate the power of play as they stroll through Winslow in a festive parade that will return to KiDiMu after a 1-mile loop.
Walkers are encouraged to register in advance at kidimu.org, or at the museum, to receive free commemorative T-shirts for kids (they will be sold for $10 the day of the event). The walk is free for all participants, and there is no registration fee thanks to the event sponsors.
After the walk, all the party guests will enjoy free fun on the plaza.
At 11 a.m., Roberto the Magnificent will entertain the crowd with his hilarious, high energy magic tricks.
Atlas, the Bainbridge High School Spartronics robot, will show off its skills and play with the kids.
Then, at 1 p.m., families will be entertained by the Harmonica Pocket, followed by the Reptile Man Scott Petersen and his animal crew for a special presentation with a reptile petting zoo for daring young explorers.
In addition to scheduled performances, families will also enjoy many other free attractions between 11 a.m. and
3 p.m. KiDiMu will offer face painting, bubble fun and a special sneak preview of the summer camps.
