Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers will move to the Eastman Building on Sunday, April 1.
Volunteers at the nonprofit are excited.
The new office space at 299 Madison Ave. N. (immediately north of San Carlos Restaurant) is approximately twice the size of the one-room office IVC has previously occupied in the Parfitt Building.
“We’ve been growing every year, and now we will have the space our staff needs to coordinate our volunteers and also to do interviews, hold conferences and accomplish other outreach work,” said board president Susan Bottles.
The office is on the building’s second floor, reached by the stairway or the elevator at the rear of the building. Parking for staff and visitors is behind both the Eastman and restaurant buildings.
IVC assists community residents who are elderly, disabled or otherwise vulnerable, to help them maintain their dignity, independence and quality of life. Services include transportation for health care appointments, shopping or other errands, help with household chores, gardening or minor repairs, reading to people who are visually impaired, delivering flowers, companionship through visits, walks, drives or other activities, and respite care to relieve family caregivers.
Last year, 130 volunteers gave more than 6,600 hours to help 203 people in need. It was a substantial increase over prior years, officials said.
IVC is leasing the new offices from PLM, which also owns the San Carlos Restaurant.
“We appreciate the cooperation of PLM, especially Lee Jorgenson, in working with us to reach agreement on the lease and in facilitating our move,” Bottles said.
After the move, the organization’s telephone number will remain 842-4441, and its mailing address will continue to be PO Box 11253, Bainbridge Island, WA, 98110.
