The Bainbridge kickers are taking full advantage of the holidays and Metro conference opponents.

The Spartans beat Sound Division Ingraham 3-0 Tuesday, powered by two Amine Ramadan goals. The victory came on a day that coach Anh Tran felt the undefeated Spartans were not playing their best.

“We did not play particularly well,” said Tran. “But well enough to score three goals and book the win.”

With three JV players in the lineup because of spring break, the team wasn’t firing on all cylinders. Yet starting goalkeeper Alex Bolt combined with JV netminder Aaron Mumm for the second Bainbridge shutout of the season.

The Rams (2-2-1 overall, 2-0 Sound Division play) had tied Seattle Prep and had only lost 2-0 to Eastside Catholic coming into the game.

The first Bainbridge goal came just 14 minutes into the game. Jesse Burk-Rafel penetrated the defense and placed a pinpoint pass just outside the Rams’ goal box, and Ramadan put it away from eight yards out.

Burk-Rafel was later fouled in the penalty area, resulting in the penalty kick clinic turned in by Dylan Tucker-Gangnes in the 53rd minute. He tucked it low into the right corner.

“Dylan took a perfect PK,” Tran said of his freshman midfielder, who quickly has become the Spartan free kick specialist, scoring or assisting on four different restart tallies thus far in the season.

Ten minutes later, Tucker-Gangnes turned around to feed Ramadan, who claimed his second goal on the day from the top of the box in the 63rd.

Bainbridge finds itself in the middle of the running and with decent positioning in a tight Mountain Division race.

Hosting West Seattle last night, Bainbridge (4-0-2, 0-0-1 in divison play) is poised to face the heart of the order. They suit up against conference foes next week, playing O’Dea at the Queen Anne Bowl at 3:30 p.m. April 12, and hosting last year’s champs, Bishop Blanchet, at 5:30 p.m. April 14 at Memorial Stadium.

Bainbridge is in a three-way tie for fourth in the Mountain Division.

While the Spartans have eight players who have contributed to their 15 goals in six games, O’Dea (3-2-1, 1-1-0) has only four scoring five goals with three shutouts and three goals allowed.

By contrast, Blanchet (5-1-0, 1-0-0) has spread 20 goals among a dozen players, allowing three with three shutouts. The Braves feature the sons of two area soccer coaches, midfielder Colin Schmetzer, whose dad Brian coaches the A-league Sounders, and goalkeeper Ian Fewing, of Seattle University’s Peter Fewing.
