Put your dancing shoes on, and get your face ready for some paint. It’s the Kids Discovery Museum’s birthday.

KiDiMu will celebrate it’s second anniversary at its new gateway location from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 2.

“The reason we have the event is to celebrate the second anniversary in our building,” said Susan Sivitz, executive director of KiDiMu. “So we give the community a party.”

The annual Birthday Bash will offer free admission to the museum for the day as well as additional no-cost entertainment.

“It’s a fun, free family day at KiDiMu,” Sivitz said. “In addition to free admission we have face painting, balloons, giveaways and extra-special entertainment throughout the day.”

The youth Motsimoyo Marimba Band will kick things off with their unique African musical ambiance. Local islander David Webb will lead a sing-along with the audience as well.

The fun won’t stop there. Roberto the Magnificent will wow the crowd with magic and intrigue before the Not-its will rock the parking lot for a dance party the rest of the day.

Bainbridge Island police officers and firefighters will also make appearances and offer tours of their vehicles.

Also planned: vendor booths, giveaways, face painting, chalk art fun, photos and more to commemorate the special event.

Sivitz notes that the event is made possible through a variety of donations and sponsors such as KeyBank, Puget Sound Energy, Town & Country Market, Ace Hardware, Harrison Medical Center, Johansson Clark Real Estate, Bon Bon, Kitsap Credit Union, Popcorn Chef, Tasha Vanasse Photography Trans4Media and The 122.

The Kids Discovery Museum began in 2005 when a group of islanders banded together to form an organization dedicated to learning opportunities for families.

By 2010, KiDiMu obtained space at their current gateway location at the corner of Highway 305 and Winslow Way
