The page-turner that has consumed the nation’s capital will be coming to local libraries next month.

Last week, a redacted version of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 Election was released and propelled Washington, D.C. into political pandemonium.

Titled “Report on the Investigation into Russian Interference in the 2016 Presidential Election,” the two-volume report totals 488 pages.

The report, with some segments blacked out at the demand of U.S. Attorney General William Bar, is the summary of Mueller’s investigation into Russian attempts to sway the 2016 Presidential Election and the report also explores allegations of conspiracy and potential obstruction of justice.

Although the redacted version is available online, paper versions of the report have become an online bestseller since its release.

The “Mueller Report” rocketed to the top of online retailer Amazon’s bestseller list after its release, and the report has been topping other bestseller lists elsewhere in the days since.

Kitsap Regional Library has ordered nine copies of the report; one each for the Bainbridge, Bremerton, Bremerton (Sylvan Way), Kingston, Little Boston, Manchester, Port Orchard, Poulsbo and Silverdale branches.

Some readers are already anxious to get a copy in their hands.

Though copies haven’t yet been placed on the library system’s shelves, all of the copies on order have been checked out in advance and a waiting list has been started.

KRL spokesman Mark Hughes said the library has been told by Skyhorse Publishing, one of the publishers producing retail copies of the report, that the book has a publication date of April 30.

“As long as that date remains accurate, we should have the books available in the first week of May,” Hughes said.

The importance of the book, according to Skyhorse Publishing: “There has never been a more important political investigation than Robert S. Mueller III’s into President Donald Trump’s possible collusion with Russia.… The wait is over. Robert Mueller, a lifelong Republican, has concluded his investigation and submitted its findings to Attorney General William Barr. Barr has told Congress that Mueller found no proof of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, and did not come to a conclusion on obstruction of justice — neither concluding the president committed a crime nor exonerating him. But Mueller’s report was over 300 pages and Barr’s summary was only four pages, raising questions about the conclusions of a historic investigation.”

The Skyhorse version also includes portions of the federal regulations that establish and regulate the powers of the special counsel, as well as the 2016 order that appointed Mueller and set the scope of his investigation. Also inside, the four-page summary of the report written by Barr that was sent to Congress in March, plus the attorney general’s reasons for redacting the report.
