The city of Bainbridge Island has signed contracts with professional divers to begin the cleaning and inspection of its linear moorage system in Eagle Harbor.
Cleaning of the city’s moorage buoys and regulatory buoys around the island will also be performed.
Maintenance is scheduled to begin in late August and early September.
Further preventative maintenance or needed repairs are also scheduled for November. Work is expected to wrap up in December.
The effort will include pressure washing underwater components, inspection, on-call maintenance and repair of the linear moorage buoys, moorage buoys and regulatory buoys in Eagle Harbor, and similar work on the regulatory buoys in Fletcher Bay, Port Madison and Manzanita Bay.
The city is asking boaters and dock users to be very cautious of dive flags and boat tenders, and to give the divers considerable distance to perform their work safely.
