A 19-year-old Silverdale man was hurt when he fell 40 feet off a roof in the 6400 block of Wing Point Road NE Monday afternoon.

The accident happened just after 3 p.m. Monday, May 18, according to a Bainbridge Island Police Department report.

The fall victim and a coworker from a moss removal company were working when the man had just finished cleaning a skylight and had detached himself from a line and harness and was moving toward a ladder.

The coworker said he heard the sound of the man’s shoes slipping on the roof, and said he partially caught the man before he fell to the ground.

The man was transported by Airlift Northwest for medical treatment.

Police completed a report on the accident that will be forwarded to Washington State Department of Labor & Industries.
