Bainbridge Schools Foundation announced this week the nonprofit is seeking a new executive director to lead the organization in its mission to work with donors, community partners and the school district to develop and deliver sustainable funding resources that ensure island public school students achieve academic excellence.
Vicky Marsing, who has been the executive director for the last seven years, is retiring.
“Over the last eight years, the Bainbridge Schools Foundation has flourished as a result of inspired leadership, a great team and remarkable donors and partners,” said Jennifer Kim, president of the foundation.
“Our organization has impacted the lives of our island’s children and supported our schools as we strive to meet the potential greatness of all our students. We wish to thank Vicky Marsing for her incredible work on behalf of BSF and we look forward to raising the bar even higher with a new executive director,” she said.
The foundation works to support the Bainbridge Island School District’s vision and mission by raising funds, gathering resources and acting as a catalyst to involve the community in public education. The foundation’s goal is to help bridge the gap between what the district receives to fund education and what it needs to adequately fund its programs to achieve educational excellence for all students.
In the last seven years, BSF has contributed more than $6 million to fund additional teachers in the classroom to maintain class sizes, teacher training and innovation in the classroom.
BSF funds STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) which includes additional K-12 Math, Engineering, Science, Coding and Robotics classes. The foundation also supports those students facing extra challenges by funding Title One Reading, homework clubs and the Achieve Program in the middle and high schools.
