Representatives from the Department of Transportation and Washington State Ferry will host a meeting next week to seek community input regarding the upcoming Bainbridge Island ferry terminal rehabilitation project.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 at Bainbridge Island City Hall.

State officials will begin the retrofit the Bainbridge Island ferry terminal building later this month to enhance earthquake safety, upgrade the public restrooms, and replace many aging building components.

The existing terminal building was built in 1955 and does not meet current seismic design codes, other building codes and energy efficiency guidelines. The public restrooms are not large enough and do not meet American Disabilities Act guidelines.

The meeting will be the public’s last formal opportunity to give input.
