This week’s adoptable pets are Mer and Duke.
For adoption through PAWS:
Mer is an 8-year-old, medium-haired tabby-and-white female who came to PAWS due to her owner’s allergies.
Her daughter tried to give Mer a home but the cat who lived there said no way.
Mer is a quiet girl who lives to be brushed. You can meet her and several others at the PAWS Pleasant Beach adoption center, open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
For adoption through Kitsap Humane Society:
Meet Duke!
He is an adorable 3-year-old pit bull/lab mix. He loves to romp around the yard and play with tennis balls and squeaky toys; he’s such a hoot. Duke loves to go for quiet hikes in the woods and he loves water — he especially enjoys playing in the kiddy pool during hot summer days, splashing around at the beach, and bath time.
Duke is looking for a home where snoring is fully accepted. Duke is a special boy who takes time to build relationships with new people, so he a home with dedicated adopters who will give him time to settle in and learn to trust people. He seems to be more comfortable with women, as he can be a bit fearful with men.
Because Duke can be nervous with lots of activity and uncomfortable with strangers, he needs a quiet home (no apartments) without many visitors. He would do best in a home with kids over the age of 16 and without cats.
Duke is currently spending time in foster care, so meets are by appointment only. For more information on Duke, e-mail sfairweather@kitsap-humane.org to request an adoption application (www.kitsap-humane.org).
