Nancy Knox Henderson died at her daughter’s home on Jan. 1, 2015 surrounded by many who loved her.
She was born Jan. 7, 1931 in Clover, South Carolina.
Nancy graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College in 1953 and spent decades of her career educating first-grade children at Bethesda Elementary School in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Late in life, Nancy spent several years living on Bainbridge Island and adoring her friends at the Wyatt House Retirement home there.
Nancy loved drawing, gardening, birding, sewing, collecting coins and stamps, all puzzles, playing cards, excursions, travel and adventures. She possessed an ability to see past the trees and into the forest. Nancy delighted in her children, grandchildren and all things beautiful. She was an artist and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Matthew (Mack) Knox and Corrine Beamguard Knox, both of Clover, S.C.
She is survived by her sister Rose Knox Vedder of Ormond Beach, Florida; daughter Maxine Miller (Bill) of Stone Mountain, Georgia; son Tim Henderson (Diane) of Dacula, Georgia; granddaughter Joy Miller of Chicago, Illinois; grandsons Patrick Miller of Seattle, and Tommy and Tyler Henderson of Dacula; niece Nancy Brown; and nephews Johnny, Matthew, David and Richard Vedder.
A memorial service held in her honor and appreciation was held Jan. 10 in Stone Mountain, Ga.
A subsequent graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12 at Woodside Cemetery in Clover, S.C.
