An excessive heat warning has been issued for Bainbridge Island and the surrounding area for Monday, July 1 by the National Weather Service.
Temperatures are expected to reach the mid- to high 80s on the island today.
The National Weather Service said temperatures will be similar to yesterday’s, with slightly higher humidity today.
“An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely,” the report said.
Residents are advised to put off strenuous activities until the evening, to take breaks from outdoor work in the shade.
Temperatures in Seattle are expected to be higher than on the island, possibly reaching into the mid-90s.
The National Weather Service said temperatures are expected to decrease on Tuesday, but will still be above normal, and that a gradual cooling trend will continue for the rest of the week.
