All women are invited to attend SWERV for a photographic look at the “History of Women at Sea” from 1978 to today, at the next meeting, 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12 at the Filipino American Hall.
Presenter Darlene Iskra, Commander, USN (Ret.), knows the story first-hand as one of the first female line officer graduates of the Navy School of Diving and Salvage (1980) and as the first woman commander of a commissioned naval vessel (1990). Iskra’s doctoral dissertation was entitled “Breaking through the Glass Ceiling.”
