This week, the Bainbridge Island Community Pharmacy received first doses of Pfizer and second doses of Moderna vaccines to be administered to people who qualify under Phase 1A, Phase 1B, Tier 1, and Phase 1B, Tier 2.
The Pfizer vaccines will be available again through two clinics in the Commodore Options School gym on March 20-21. Appointments are expected to fill quickly.
The Moderna vaccines will be used to support a second dose clinic at the Senior Center on Saturday. Individual appointments for that clinic have already been scheduled.
The new tier eligible this week (1B, Tier 2) includes high-risk critical workers in certain congregate settings; agriculture; fishing vessel crews; food processing; grocery stores; corrections; prisons, jails or detention centers; public transit; remaining first responders; and people 16 years or older who are pregnant or have a disability that puts them at high-risk for severe COVID-19 illness, according to the state Department of Health.
Last weekend, over 200 volunteers from various local organizations helped the pharmacy get 1,556 people vaccinated at the two Commodore clinics.
The city of Bainbridge Island, in partnership with the BI Fire Department and Bainbridge Prepares, is coordinating with BI Community Pharmacy on COVID vaccine distribution. As of March 15, the partnership has supported the administration of over 9,200 doses to eligible individuals from Kitsap and surrounding counties.
Other vaccine providers on Bainbridge include Member Plus Family Health, Virginia Mason and the Safeway pharmacy.
